Acrescente-se que, da simples leitura dos versículos bíblicos acima citados, conclui-se, facilmente, que a Igreja está edificada sobre Cristo, a Rocha, e não sobre Pedro (pedrinha, pequena pedra). O próprio apóstolo Pedro afirmou que Jesus é a pedra, conforme Atos 4:11, 1 Pedro 2:6-8):
